Memo to Canadians: We Have Private Hospitals NOW !!!

I have used a PRIVATE HOSPITAL twice in the last ten years for abdominal surgery.

It is located in Thornhill, North Toronto and has been there for sixty years. They only do one thing; hernia operations, and they do twenty-four a day. They are the best in the world at it. They fix the botched operations that the public hospitals do. The first time I went there, there was a poor soul from North or Thunder Bay, whose previous operation had been conducted by a surgeon who had a text book open beside him while he operated, in spite of this guidance, he managed to sew the nerve bundle from the poor guys testicles in with the muscles. To the guy, it was like being kicked in the groin 24 hours a day for the week it took him to get into the PRIVATE HOSPITAL.

The second time I went there, my roomate was a bowling instructor from Florida, he booked on the internet and flew up for the three days it takes. He paid cash.

This PRIVATE HOSPITAL has been in operation since 1945.

The polititans are anxious to maintain the single tier FICTION. It would be useful if one of the press would ask each single tier candidate, IF HE OR SHE IS ELECTED, WILL THEY CLOSE THE EXISTING PRIVATE HOSPITALS? And if not, why not?

At least then the 'health care debate' might then take on the illusion of ... a real debate, ya know, with facts and stuff. Oops, what am I saying? This is an election, no facts allowed.

Italics Mine.

P.S. There is also a private MRI facility in Hull across from Ottawa [$700.00 Cdn], they take VISA & MC, so we no longer have to drive over the border to use Buffalo MRI to save the twelve week wait.

Having been at the Conservative Health Care announcement last week, the reporters did ask pretty much that question to Steven Harper. He was very clear - he would not shut down the clinics.

His reasoning was that, if the goal is to have health care for all Canadians, shutting down a source of health care really isn't going to help, is it.

I couldn't remember the name of this hospital when I wrote my post on Dec. 5th. Thanks for filling in my memory gap! Jack Layton was probably thinking of this well-known hospital when he said he'd grandfather private clinics.

You're talking about Shouldice Hospital, right?

Although I've never had to use the facility, I've heard nothing but good things about this world-renowned private facility.
